On foot

This classic South Coast beach has life guards on duty every day to ensure, and monitor, your safety while swimming. The warm Indian Ocean allows you to swim virtually all year round.

Laze in the sun or tuck yourself under an umbrella or the shade of a tree on the North side of the beach.  If the sea conditions are a bit rough, there is always the option of a swim in the Noel Quarry Tidal Pool on the south side of the beach.

You don’t need to break into a sweat to enjoy the wonderful marine ramble path and beach walk to the North or South of the main beach. It is an easy coastal walk where you will leave your footprints on the fine sandy beaches alternating with pathways with peeping views into the rock pools below. Your stroll can be punctuated by a spell on one of the benches placed along the way. Be mesmerized by the curl and crash of the waves onto the rocks. Watch a while, as a distant ocean liner or cargo ship chugs its way towards its destination. If you walk to the south, you might be lucky enough to see a ski boat launching through the surf from Ski Boat Bay.

This elevated vantage point high on the coastal dune overlooking Ramsgate Beach is an excellent place from which to scan the ocean below. Between the months of June and September you are likely to see whales and dolphins somewhere within your view. At any time of year this Ramsgate Conservancy project is a fabulous place from which to ponder the majesty and vastness of the ocean.

There is always a magic to being on the water. The Jolly Boats options of leg power on a paddle boat, or arm power in a canoe, allow you to explore the lagoon and enjoy the feeling of floating through time.
